$10.5M prize purse at The Open, $1.89M to winner

The R&A released prize information for The Open at Carnoustie, where the Champion Golfer of the Year will take home $1.89 million from a $10.5 million purse.

The purse and winner’s share are equal to those offered at last year’s PGA Championship, and it’s a slight increase from last year’s Open when Jordan Spieth took home $1.845 million from a $10.25 million purse for his win at Royal Birkdale.

Patrick Reed received $1.98 million for his Masters win in April, while Brooks Koepka’s victory at Shinnecock Hills was worth $2.16 million.
