With a top-10 finish in his return from injury, Tony Finau continued to make progress as he looks to qualify for the Ryder Cup for the first time.
Finau tied for 10th at the Masters despite a gruesome ankle injury, and after taking two weeks off to heal he picked up right where he left off, finishing sixth alongside teammate Daniel Summerhays at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. After pocketing another $172,800 for his efforts, Finau jumped from 17th to 13th in the latest U.S. Ryder Cup standings.
The biggest moves this week were reserved for the winners at TPC Louisiana, as Billy Horschel went from 54th to 19th and Scott Piercy jumped from 56th to 21st.
The top eight players after the PGA Championship will all qualify automatically, with captain Jim Furyk rounding out the roster with four selections. Here’s a look at the latest U.S. standings, where the top 12 remain unchanged from last week:
