Cleveland CG Black Driver Review

Cleveland CG Black Driver Review – The 46 inch shaft on the Cleveland CG Black Driver is a quarter of an inch shorter than the XL 270 driver and it is very light and manageable. You would expect a shaft this long and light to be too whippy but the excellent Miyazaki construction gives it a nice firm feel and rigidity to perform as well as any more traditionally weighted shafts on the market.

Cleveland CG Black Driver Review

The CG Black driver has a taller crown that slopes down more steeply down the Speed Crown Design to the back of the head that is also longer front to back than the XL270. At address it does look bigger and more similar to the SL290 and the dark colour scheme looks very classy.

The rear weight screw certainly helps the ball get airborne with a slight right to left flight so if you have a slower swing speed or hit your driver too low then the CG Black driver could be ideal for you. For those with more standard swings, then the Tour version with lower lofts and slightly heavier shaft options would be better.

The only negative was the sound from the larger head which was a little piercing on occasion, but if you like making an audible statement on the course then this driver is for you.
