Cobra AMP Driver Review

Cobra AMP Driver Review -The Cobra AMP Driver certainly stands out from the crowd with very bold silver, black and orange graphics but we think it works.

Cobra AMP Driver Review

The 460cc head is a bit longer heel to toe than the S3 driver and combined with the lighter silver head colour, it seems a little bigger. Combined with the black face it makes it very easy to line up. The excellent Aldila RIP shaft comes in a two tone black/silver finish with a great feeling Lamkin REL 3Gen grip in the new Cobra corporate colour of orange.

Cobra AMP Driver Review

On the course we really liked the Cobra AMP driver. The sound was good and a little more muted than the S3. The feel was soft but solid and it was easy to shape the ball both ways from a face that was very forgiving.

The AMP driver comes with Cobra’s AFT adjustable flight technology that enables you to choose one of 3 settings to have the face angle set at open, closed or neutral.

To us, the neutral setting seemed a little closed, hence the slightly higher ball flight and the closed setting is really closed, so this could be good if you have a bad slice. However as with most of the AMP range, put the club in the open setting and it seemed to sit a little squarer and the performance and flight is a lot better for mid to low handicaps.

Cobra have continued the styling with a sock headcover that is more man-made than wool. It looks cool but is a bit of a pain to take on and off, especially in the wet and the stitching has already gone on our one so you may need to factor another headcover into your purchase.

There is a lot of style about the Cobra AMP driver, but don’t be fooled as there is plenty of substance too from this excellent driver.
