Cobra L5V Driver Review

Stretching the boundaries of design to the limits by maximising the legal length and width to increase MOI, and utilising Dual Rhombus Technology to increase the effective hitting area (up 13% from its predecessor the L4V) this is Cobra’s most technologically advanced driver and we think it is technology that delivers.

Cobra L5V Driver Review

The large club head gives a feeling of confidence at address, had good feel at impact and delivered a consistent, penetrating ball flight with impressive distance from all areas of the face – in fact performance on mishits was so good it seemed the L5V could cope with whatever swing we threw at it!

Our only reservation with the L5V was the distinctive sound at impact that we found very loud – due to a combination of the club head dimensions and the carbon composite body – and was not to our taste.

Aimed at all players the L5V comes in a range of lofts from 8.5 to 11.5 degrees and as it is a relatively low spinning driver we would suggest getting a model 0.5 – 1 degree more than you normally would.

The driver is also adjustable and you can set it to one of two positions to encourage a straight or draw biased ball flight. The system was clear and easy to use and is definitely more user friendly than other adjustable drivers on the market.

The Cobra L5V is an excellent addition to the premium driver market and the performance combined with great looks certainly justifies the investment required. If you like the noise at impact then we would certainly recommend that you get one in your bag.
