Jessica Korda made it clear she wasn’t happy with scores being wiped clean with Thursday’s cancellation of the first round of the Evian Championship, but she came out strong in Friday’s re-start.
Still, Korda finds herself four shots behind Sung Hyun Park through Friday’s morning wave. She was eight shots ahead of Park before first round scores were erased, with the abbreviated round played in high winds and rain.
With the LPGA decision to shorten the championship to 54 holes, Park’s 8-under-par 63 in the re-start becomes tougher for players to catch.

Korda, making her first start since withdrawing after the first round of the Ricoh Women’s British Open with a left forearm injury, shot 67.
“It sucked because I was playing so well yesterday, and some people weren’t playing so well yesterday, that are playing well today, and there’s nothing I can do about that,” Korda said. “I just need to concentrate on myself. I was annoyed until about 9 p.m. last night, and then I was like, ‘All right, screw it. When I wake up, it’s a new day. What’s done is done, and we’ll just keep moving forward.’”
Korda was tied for the lead at 2 under through eight holes Thursday when play was scrubbed. Park was 6 over through five holes.

Korda said Friday’s sunny, calm conditions were dramatically different than Thursday, when winds gusted to 45 mph.
“I would have liked to have seen them keep the scores,” Korda said. “Obviously, looking at this weather, I see what they were talking about, in terms of it’s not going to be fair, but when is it ever fair? Which is one thing that I kept saying yesterday, is you can go back as many tournaments as you want, the morning to the afternoon, when is it ever fair? That’s golf. It’s an outdoor sport. It’s never going to be the same. But I can see what they’re talking about. The golf course is totally different today. It is what it is. You’ve just got to roll with it.”
