Li, 15, headlines six amateurs playing next month's ANA

Lucy Li leads the field of amateurs who will tee it up at the ANA Inspiration next month.

Li, 15, will be one of six amateurs in the year’s first major championship.

She was 11 when she first came to prominence as youngest player to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open. She will be playing in her third major, her second ANA Inspiration. She was low amateur at the ANA last year.

IMG announced its five amateur invitees on Tuesday. The sixth and final amateur spot will go to the winner of the ANA Junior Inspiration March 23-25.

Here are the other amateur invitees:

Sophia Shubert, 22, is the 2017 U.S. Women’s Amateur champion. She’s a junior at the University of Texas.

Lilia Vu, 20, a sophomore at UCLA, is No. 2 in this week’s Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking. She won four consecutive starts for the Bruins.

Albane Valenzuela, 20, was the low amateur at the 2016 ANA Inspiration. She competed for Switzerland in the 2016 summer Olympics and ranks No. 5 in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking. She lost to Schubert in the finals of the U.S. Women’s Amateur last summer. She is a sophomore at Stanford.

Maria Fassi, 19, is Mexico’s top amateur. She’s a junior at the University of Arkansas who has won three titles for the Razorbacks this year.

Atthaya Thitikul, 15, won the Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific in Singapore on Sunday to earn an invite to the Ricoh Women’s British Open this summer. She became the youngest winner of a Ladies European Tour event last year, taking the Ladies European Thailand Championship in her homeland as a 14-year-old. She eclipsed Lydia Ko’s record as youngest LET winner by doing so. She was barely 14 when she made the cut at the Honda LPGA Thailand in 2016.
