Nicklaus, fellow major champs mourn loss of Ford

World Golf Hall of Fame member and two-time major champion Doug Ford died Monday night at age 95. Ford won the 1955 PGA Championship and the 1957 Masters Tournament. Some fellow major champions took to social media upon hearing the announcement to offer condolences and share memories.

Found out today we lost the great Doug Ford, at age 95. In Doug, we lost one of the wonderful “old time” golfing masters. Doug Ford was self-made, self-taught & a magician with a golf ball. At age 19, I played first 2 rounds of 1959 @usopengolf with Doug, when he tied for 5th….

The PGA Tour lost another family member this week. 95 years young, Doug Ford ,was a true pioneer in our sport and tour. A huge part of the creation of the tour as we know it today,as well as the Champions tour. 1955 PGA and 1957 Masters, 19 tour titles, 2011 HOF . Thank you Doug
