Wilson Staff D100 Driver Review

Wilson Staff D100 Driver Review – Whilst Wilson may be a little late to the light-driver party, they have made quite the entrance. The SuperLight D100 driver is simple, super lightweight (as the name suggests) at 269 grams and just easy to use.

Wilson Staff D100 Driver Review

The classic, black head design is simple, non-adjustable and sure to please players overwhelmed by the mass of multi-coloured, heavily adjustable drivers on the market.

The all black head and face do merge into each other and the crown has a small arrow-like alignment aid that is a little hard to pick up if you need that kind of help. However the rest of the sole and face design is very easy on the eye and has a quality feel to it.

The Matrix Ozik HD4.1 shaft is a strong addition to the D100 driver. Weighing just 45 grams, it is very lightweight but doesn’t suffer in performance. It appears the designers at Matrix believe in showing their working with the amount of formula-text and annotations on the shaft which is slightly longer than most at 46 inches.

The moment you get the headcover off, you will understand what the Wilson SuperLight D100 is all about. It feels incredible light in your hands and gives the impression of a very lightweighted clubhead. Put that into your swing and you find the club is remarkably easy to swing and produce a good amount of clubhead speed.

The ball flight was mid to high and ball seemed to stay in the air for a second or two longer thanks to the minimal spin. Every shot was a joy to hit and the sound and feel is excellent. If you are the type of golfer that requires help with swing speed and distance, the 10.5 or 12 degree model would be best, but it is also offered in 9 degrees.

Considering it is up to much cheaper than most of the other lightweight drivers on the market, it is probably one of the best value drivers around.
