'18 Euro Tour schedule features 3 new events

The 2018 European Tour schedule was released Friday, as the circuit looks to build on the success of its Rolex Series by adding three new events in Belgium, Oman and the Philippines.

The new season begins with the Hong Kong Open in late November, four days after the 2016-17 season ends.

The eight Rolex Series events, each of which offers a $7 million purse, kick off in May.

The NBO Oman Classic is one of the three new events on the 2018 slate, along with the March 15-18 Philippines Golf Championship and May 17-20 Belgian Knockout. Gone, however, are the Paul Lawrie Match Play, Alfred Dunhill Championship (South Africa), Shenzhen Intnerational, Portuguese Open, Rocco Forte Open and Fiji International. Neither the British Masters (being played this week) nor the Indian Open has found a venue for next year.

In all, the schedule offers unconventional formats with the GolfSixes and Belgian Knockout and spans 30 different countries, culminating with the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
