Callaway Big Bertha Steel Fairway Wood – In our view Callaway are still the boys when it comes to fairway woods.

The original Warbird set the benchmark very high and the subsequent models did not really take the design forward much.

However the Callaway Big Bertha Steel woods feel like they have built on all the strong points of that original design.

A modified version of the warbird sole is back and whilst not as contoured as the original, it still provides the same ability to adjust to any lie.

The head looks great and the increased size makes it more forgiving on off-centre hits than the previous Steelhead III model.

We found that the woods were very easy to hit as you would expect from Callaway. The tracjectory was slightly higher than the equivalent loft of the Heavenwood, but it depends on what you require.

There is an excellent choice of graphite shafts and the standard Callaway uniflex steel shaft
